It’s worth watching this really excellent short film from Prada.
First off, the clothing (Prada perfection, of course) plays such a central role in this short story, from Helena Bonham Carter’s perfectly pedicured toes slipping out of Prada pumps, to the exquisite fur she leaves by the door. The beauty of the colors and textures bring out a richness and real-world wearability that isn’t always captured on the runway.
The story itself is quite witty. We can see that Prada is poking fun at the stereotypical “troubles” of the rich, and I imagine that even those that fall into this bracket will smile at the levity of this patient’s problems. We also get a peek into the world of the therapist, played by Ben Kingsley. Perhaps he is bored with listening to the daily woes of his upscale clients and longs for a bit more excitement. He finds a quick moment of escape when he secretively slips into the purple fur of his client. The video closes with Prada Suits Everyone… meaning, even the straight-arrow therapist could use a little Prada in his life. By the end of this short film we realize that the title “A Therapy,” could apply to both characters.
Including big name participants such as Helene Bonham Carter, Ben Kingsley, and the controversial Roman Polanski, was a way to bring a seriousness to an otherwise humorous little vignette.
Prada has been slow to join the social media playground, and if these entertaining (but still on-brand) videos are the way they intend to do it then I think we will be in for a real treat. I am hitting “share” now…

The Indian high-end fashion market is worth an estimated $2.2bn and with a year on year growth of 20 per cent it is considered to be one of the leading emerging markets along with China “Hermès admires India and has a lot to learn from India,” said Patrick Thomas, the chief executive of Hermès International, as he unveiled their new line of limited edition saris. Inspired by their signature printed silk scarves, the luxury fashion house has released a line of traditional Indian saris - costing $6,100 to $8,200 - as a “wink” to Indian customers. - Via Telegraph UK
